Greetings my friends!

Are you a (potential) backer in New Zealand or Australia?

First off, as promised to my Aussie and Kiwi friends- I've been working on securing better rates for shipping and handling and might have an option but this also requires that I get enough print backers to make it feasible. If you are an Australian or New Zealand backer who would increase from $1 or PDF to print with a $48 S&H price please drop your feedback in the comments. If I get enough people interested I'll be able to move forward on using this distributor. I totally understand how frustrating it is having such a high price tag on S&H and wish there was a magical portal in your country through which I could push boxes of the Mini-Dungeon Tome- alas, this is the real world and such magick is unavailable to me. ;) I can't wait to hear your response so please pop over to the Kickstarter update and drop your feedback in the comments!

Cover Art Update from Mates Laurentiu

Mates Laurentiu has been hard at work on the new cover for the book as unlocked by YOU! He's finished the sketch process and moved into line-art then base colors. Of course, it's still hard to tell what's what at this stage so keep in mind this is a work-in-progress with much more to come. If you have anything to share please post in the comments section of this update. Thank you so much for making this dungeon-crawl-inspired cover possible!

Cartography Update from Justin

Good evening everyone!

Justin Andrew Mason here, and I’m chiming in with a cartography update for the Mini-Dungeon Tome. I’ve been relatively quiet as the campaign has progressed, but that’s not due to a lack of excitement. I’m absolutely thrilled and amazed by the awesome support you all have pledged for the project.

Instead, my relative silence has been because I’ve been hard at work on all the great map goals and cartography-related stretch goals you all have unlocked. To help assure that there’s no delay with some of the massive cartography updates being made to this project, I’ve been creating and updating maps as quickly as they’ve been unlocked.

There have been several questions in the comments section about the maps, specifically the VTT Map Pack which can be added as an add-on by increasing your pledge by $29. I’ve tried to answer all questions, and keep the Mini-Dungeon Tome FAQ updated. However, if you have a question that’s not answered there, please post it in the comments of this update so I can get an answer to you ASAP.

Here’s some of the work already completed…

VTT Map Pack Add-on

What are the differences between the GM, Player, and VTT maps?

While I explain this in text via this FAQ response, I thought providing a graphical representation of each map type might help. Here’s one of the maps from the Mini-Dungeon Tome displayed as all three versions which can be found the map pack:

Map Goals: Updated Cartography

Lastly, I thought I’d share some examples of the completed cartography updates that have been unlocked via the Map Goals.

Several of the earlier Mini-Dungeons utilized basic rudimentary maps with very little detail. I started creating more complex maps for the Mini-Dungeons series during the last quarter of 2016. Most of those maps will not need to be updated, but that still left us with upwards of 50-60 maps that needed to be completely redone as detailed cartography, and probably another dozen or so that could use some touching up to be on par with the high bar we've set with this tome.

At the rate the map goals are being unlocked, I believe we will manage to get all those that needed to be redone included, and very likely updates made to the others.

Here’s a look at a few of the updated maps with the original maps in thumbnail format to show you what I’ve been busy with these past few weeks:

Before I head out and dive back into the cartography mad-dash, I just want to say thank you again. You all are amazing, and I’m beside myself with excitement about the level of support this project has received. Have a great week!  -- Justin Andrew Mason

Where are we on Stretch Goals and what are Dragon Eggs?

Stretch goals? Well there's something that's hard to describe since you are unlocking them so fast we can barely keep up! ;) To date you've unlocked 36 stretch goals and over 30 map upgrades, that's INSANE! To keep it up please share this campaign via social media, word of mouth, smoke signals- whatever you think can boost the signal.

What are Dragon Eggs? Dragon Eggs are special Easter Eggs we hide on the main Kickstarter page which provide insight into upcoming Milestone Stretch Goals which have not yet hatched. What are Milestone Stretch Goals? At $50k, $75k, $100k we're hitting major milestones, our biggest Kickstarter to date was Underworld Races & Classes for 5E & PF which funded just over $50k. We wanted to reward you for passing major milestones and thus are handing our free adventures to everyone (even $1 backers!) when we pass each of these. We've just recently hidden a RED DRAGON EGG on the main Kickstarter page. Can you find it and click to see what might be hatching next? We're getting close to $75k... what kind of free adventures or otherwise are forthcoming? Only those who can truly hunt our Dragon Eggs will know prior to this happening! Good luck and happy hunting!

Well that's it for tonight my friends, I want to once again take a huge bow to you all and graciously thank each and every one of you for believing in us and making this tome possible. I cannot convey the full appreciation of my team with words over the internet. Perhaps we need to set up a live video chat upon the conclusion of this Kickstarter to really share our appreciation to each and every one of you. Hey- a bunch of awesome authors, artists, and cartographers all on video chat? Sounds like a great party! What do you think?

The final cover sketch is now complete!

Mates Laurentiu will now begin refining this piece adding more detail and introducing some basic colors. What do you think? Our goal here was to feature the dungeon setting itself.

~ Sleepy Sunday ~
almost 2 years ago – Sun, Oct 01, 2017 at 09:14:29 PM

Good afternoon from the Pacific Northwest, Snoqualmie to be exact. I live in what was once a small town, now ever-growing due to the influx of Amazon and Microsoft employees. Snoqualmie is home to a historic train museum complete with a working and restored steam engine, the majestic Snoqualmie Falls, and spiritually grounding Mount Si.

I sit here on this Sunday plugging away on the laptop to share updates on this ever-expanding project called the Mini-Dungeon Tome. Tomorrow morning I wake up and get the kids off to school then travel to my job at the local senior center working as a dispatcher in the transportation department helping seniors, the disabled, and the general public get where they need to go. Why am I telling you all this? I just wanted to share part of the human aspect and also let you know where I'm coming from when I say THANK YOU.

Thank you for making this book possible, for continuing to believe in our fantastic team of authors, artists, graphic designers, editors, layout artists, and freelancers working hard to meet deadlines and bring you this magnificent tome. Sometimes we go through life plugging away with little acknowledgement from our peers and those we help. I think it's incredibly important for me to reach out and share my gratitude with each and every one of you for you are the ones making this project possible. I am grateful for your support. Thank you.

So where do we stand on this sleepy Sunday afternoon? I'll let the numbers and stretch goals speak for themselves:

Since my good friend and graphic designer Justin Andrew Mason created this graphic we've actually unlocked another stretch goal for a 1-on-1 mini-adventure for a single player and GM/DM, we're also well on the way to unlocking yet another map upgrade. Beyond that we've got a whole list of stretch goals which upon being unlocked will add even more to this already massive tome. Our ultimate goal is to give backers the best deal and lowest price on the book and PDF as well as numerous freebies so you can smile when you hold the final copy of the hardback and flip through its pages.

I know you'll find this tome quite useful because I personally will be using this book in my own D&D 5th Edition games which I host for my good friends here in my home. Since I run this company and rarely pull the "I can do whatever I want" card, I'm doing so now. I would like to thank my group of players- Khidr Milliman-Jarvis, Dashiell Milliman-Jarvis, Gazza Bishop, and Damon Adams for being a part of something special both in my hosted games and in various projects I run. These guys have helped playtest (sometimes unknowingly) much of the material you'll be seeing forthcoming from AAW Games. Two of my friends Gazza and Damon were actually inherited from my previous gaming group where Cliff "CJ" Jones ran hardcore D&D games which continually challenged us and forced us to really learn about the system and what our PCs could do. Sadly, our dear friend CJ passed away a few years ago unexpectedly and while we mourned his passing we also knew if there was one thing that would make him happy, it would be to continue his legacy by playing games every other Friday night in Snoqualmie; we do so to this day. CJ was the IT director of Gen Con and helped Peter Adkison in the early days at Wizards of the Coast, CJ and Pete met in college and played D&D all the way up through the creation of Magic: The Gathering and the acquisition and subsequent moving of TSR staff to the Pacific Northwest. Rest in peace CJ, and please- no more black bullets! ;)

Today has been a slower day for the Mini-Dungeon Tome Kickstarter and it's possible there are more of these on the road ahead, come Tuesday we'll be down to only 2 weeks before the Kickstarter funding ends. To unlock each and every stretch goal and add more pages, art, maps, Mini-Dungeons, and freebies to this project I call upon each of you to boost the signal in whatever means you have at your disposal- sharing on social media, Reddit, or even asking friends who run podcasts or blogs to interview me and spread the word. Thank you for whatever you can do to boost the signal and help us share our dreams with the world.

As always we're interested in hearing from you and our team frequents the comments more than you likely know! So please drop in and say hello, share your ideas for upcoming Mini-Dungeons or add ons and let's keep in touch.

Thank you for reading on this sleepy Sunday afternoon and may your week be peaceful and rich in life, love, family, friends, and games!

Hello my friends!

We just hit $50k which unlocked a bunch of cool stuff including a super secret milestone stretch goal! If you want to see what's new please hop over to the main page!

Do you like this cover concept? What else would you like to see? Anything removed/changed/added? Please drop your feedback in the comments below!

~ Be a part of creating the new cover ~
almost 2 years ago – Tue, Sep 26, 2017 at 04:25:14 PM

WE NEED YOU!

We're calling upon YOU to help us create the new cover for this book. Mates Laurentiu (Rise of the Drow, Snow White, Underworld Races & Classes) will be creating a brand new cover wrap for this book which will go–left to right–from back cover, across the spine, and onto the front cover of the Mini-Dungeon Tome

We're open to all kinds of ideas but there are a few things we want to stick with:

1. The cover must scream DUNGEON CRAWL! and depict at least a small section of a dangerous dungeon even if it's just a dimly lit corridor with strange tentacles reaching through a metal grate in the floor.

What kind of dungeon would you like to see depicted?

2. We would like to pay homage to and be inspired by the classic D&D dungeon delve adventures and their covers by depicting a party of adventurers heading into the unknown.

Which covers inspired you? Share links to your favorites?

3. It would be cool if at least one member of the party was engaged with an enemy.

What type of enemy? What are they wielding? Which party member is fighting them? What are the others doing?

Mates threw this sketch together so you could see what dimensions we're going for here. Left is back cover, right is front, middle is spine.

In addition to unlocking the cover there have been an insane amount of stretch goals unlocked and we just keep adding more awesomeness to this project! If you haven't done so yet, we encourage you to share the project with your friends so we can unlock as many stretch goals as possible.
